During Celine’s summer 2022 collection presentation in Nice, France, BLACKPINK superstar Lalisa Manobal (known by fans as “Lisa”) made her runway debut as part of her ongoing Celine ambassadorship.
In a film accompanying the event, close-up shots of Lisa’s blunt-cut bangs and face-framing bob prepped fans for the even more glamorous reveal to come: Draped in a forest-green varsity jacket adorned with the words “Celine Paris,” she stepped out on the Observatoire de Nice rooftop to join the show, which included models and actresses Kaia Gerber, Diana Silvers and Suzanne Lindon.
Lisa paired the new-school academia look with a white crop top, boot-cut medium-wash denim jeans, white sneakers, chunky sunglasses, and a chain shoulder bag in canary yellow.
The rapper, known best for her membership in the uber-popular South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, was the latest of the crew to launch a solo career, debuting “LALISA” in September 2021 to instant success. Such a jump was well worth the risk: Lisa is currently the 100th most listened-to artist, globally, on Spotify, bringing in nearly 26 million listeners every month. Her explosive growth in the music industry has been accompanied by interest from the fashion and beauty worlds; she first became a Celine ambassador in 2020, and in December launched a makeup collection with MAC Cosmetics, for which she’s also an global ambassador. Her bandmates Jennie, Rosé and Ji-soo enjoy their own ambassadorships with Chanel, Saint Laurent, and Dior, respectively.
The group first discussed their fashion interests during an ELLE cover story shoot in October 2020. “Fashion definitely empowers us as much as music does,” Jennie said. “Music and fashion—” “Cannot be separated,” Rosé finished.
